where does Queen's excel?

Subject: where does Queen's excel?
Everyone talks about Queen´s as a great school...at least in Canada (it seems to be unknown abroad). Along with McGill, the entrance average is usually the highest in the country. But I´ve never seen a ranking where Queen´s showed up as the leading grad dept. A ranking of English-speaking programs in philosophy, for example, didn´t have Queen´s mentioned (it included Toronto, McGill, Western, UBC and Alberta). In econ I believe it´s #4, behind Toronto, UBC and Western. So how does Queen´s fare elsewhere?

Queens (in reply to: where does Queen's excel?)
Queens is one of the best universities for chemistry. It is not the best school for arts, environmental studies and fine arts. It is also good for UG business and PG Law.

The campus is stunning. Not a very diverse student population and this is probably its biggest downfall as a world renown university. The town of Kingston is not buzzing but you can make the best of it will house keggers and campus parties and there are one or two hot spots on the weekend in the ´downtown area´.

I reccomend Queens to anyone. It is really a good school and one that is getting more and more respect day to day.

agreed!
All those who say Queens is full of snobs and has a boring campus must check again. e are all very nice and i think that this sterotype is long lived but not vaild.
The studnets here are very down to earth and mnay of us are struggling studnets who depend on student loans and jobs to pay for living expenses and tuition.

Also, Kingston is a great town. It is no Toronto or Montreal in terms of partying, but it has a great life on the weekends unlike many commuter schools in big cities.

Queens-you should consxider it (in reply to: where does Queen's excel?)
Queens is a good university. The progrmas are great, especailly in third and fourth years b/c there is smaller classes. Queens is one of the best, if not the best, ranked university in canada.

I am studying poltical science currently. I got into all the universities i applied to:-
Queens U
U of Toronto
Western U
York U
McGill U
U of Guelph
Dalhousie U
U of Ottawa

But I chose Queens over all b/c it was the most reccomended and had the nicest campus and my dad went to Queens. There is alot of campus pride at the campus.

Hi I want to transfer to Queens, because UofT is just too much- but I am in International Relations here and am assuming that Political Studies could substitute my program for me. I had always heard that Queens was an excellent undergrad for Arts, but recently, have come across opposing views. How does Queens rank in trems of the undergrad experience, as well as the quality of education in arts? Kingston is certainly no Totonto, and I will miss the nigth life and the day life come to think of it, very much....Is Kingston going to be a big dissapointment? what do you guys do for fun? please let me know ASAP
