If you can hold a fork, you can go to York !

The academic average (cut-off) required for admission varies. For Fall 2004, Faculty cut-offs were in the following ranges:

Arts - most programs, mid 70s
Criminology - low 80s
Atkinson - most programs, mid 70s
Administrative Studies - high 70s
Environmental Studies - mid 70s
Fine Arts - mid 70s to mid 80s
Glendon - mid 70s
Schulich - high 80s to low 90s
Science - most programs, mid 70s
Engineering - high 70s to low 80s

What did you expect??? All York students do is pick on Canada´s best university, the University of Toronto, and Ryerson, because they feel inferior to these two university. I would choose (and have choosen) U of T any day over York. I would even choose Ryerson over York.

well then go to ryerson and uoft is that is what you want. Nobody wants you at york... believe me!!!

Have fun and enjoy your life YOUR WAY!!! That is the thing with you ranking obsessed, complexed and shallow people....you must realize that in the REAL world, you have to make your own decision and do what makes you happy!

I chose York b/c it offers me what I want in a school....campus life, academics and a very large and culturally mixed student population. Some other people may have other needs, perhaps a more conservative atmosphere, a downtown location, a school more focused and geared towards their field of study or even having a buzzing party scene or lack of for that matter.

You see, in Canada, while all universities are public, there are differences that make them what they are. Find that and see if it matches what you want. I know it is not brain surgery but when reading this forum, it seems that it is the hardest thing to do- with all these lies and insults. Grow up people!!!!

80s and 90s are not low grades! I agree, all Canadian univerisities are fairly equal because they are all public institutions funded by Canadian taxpayers.

I noticed that ontario kids with 90 averages actually suck at school. Massive grade inflation.

Bright and smart students will go to U of T, Queen´s and Waterloo and some even head south to the States with scholarships.

Any comments about York? No, sorry and I guess smart students will know how to make their choices.

I agree 100%. People need to look at reality, I have never heard any of my classmates with a 90% average saying "I really want to go to York"

This is an accurate perception of Grade to University selection at Bayview Glen Grade 12:

90% - 100% (Waterloo, Queens, UBC, UofT, McGill, Western, etc.)
77% - 89% (McMaster, Guelph, Wilfrid Laurier, Ryerson, Trent)
65% - 76% (York, Brock, Lakehead, Carleton )

york rules....why are so many people jealous of york. If you are so sure about York being a second rate university, then why are you spending your time trying to prove it (which btw, it shows you are just lying)

and as for students who have 65-75 averages going to york...um, dont be stupid....it is highly doubtful that the school with the best law, business, polsci and fine arts programs in Canada will have such grade entrances.

I have an idea, if you are uncertian about what the grade cut off averages are....call the university or go online. If you dont, you will be subjected to this propaganda and lies that are all over this forum.
