Subject: Where to go ? [york student needs an advice]
hey guys,

im a 4th year hons. YOrk student, majoring in ITEC,

first i must say i absolutely hate york. im thinking of going to another school next year to complete a 2nd degree in psychology and to bump up my GPA. what would be a good school to go to for that? i know staying at york is gonna be a bitch for me ... because i dont like being here for even 1 minute, ... UofT is way too hard to bump up undergrad GPAs.... and lakehead is just not for me, so speaking of good schools like waterloo, guelph, carelton, ottawa, mcmaster, western, etc... where would be a good place go ?

i really know nothing bout other schools other than (Y)Dork univ´

You do not attend York. Youre another UofT brat who likes to denigrate York.

I was thinking of taking ITEC at york, but i scared that I won´t be able to find a job after graduation. I had a friend who dropped out of ITEC first year, and hes in kinesiology. He said that the ITEC cirriculum is basicly all thoery, and not enough hands on. I am thinking about taking IT management at ryerson. I just need your insight on why you hate the ITEC program so much, and tell me if you know the chances of landing a job after finishing ITEC at york. Thank you.

first, to the first reply, i am a York student, so keep your comments to yourself. I would never go to UT.

as for ITEC @ York, your friend is right, however it is harder to get a job in itec management after graduating even from ryerson. people after york itec do find jobs... it takes time... just like my friend who graduated from electrical engineering from queens , took him 6 months to find a job. i have a friend who was also lookin for a job after ITEC @ York...and found project management actually... but it took a couple of months!
but york really sucks. most profs dont speak english which is not good if you actualyl want to study something from the lectures. the cirriculum itself isnt easy though for sure , alotta ppl drop out

The reason why a lot of people drop out is because the average to get into the program was low to begin with, so this one way of the university gets rid of people that don´t belong in the program. Its quite funny how people look at the admission average and determine how brite a university really is. If you have any experience at university, you would know that the university tends to get rid of students that don´t really belong in a program.
A study was done at Ryerson University on the Electrical Engineering students of 1997, which admitted 265 students with an average grade of 77%, of the 265, only 73 graduated, and of the 73 that graduated, their average grade entering university was 86%. This may not be very good on the university, but, the students that really deserve to graduate will. By the way Electrical Engineering at Ryerson has one of the highest drop out rates in Ontario, on average only 30% of students entering the program graduate, that´s why you should come to u of t, once you are in the program, at least you know your have a 82% chance of graduating.
