the cut-off for a program does not reflect its quality.

for example, engineering programs have admission averages as low as high 70s, but by no means are engineering students dumb. even a low to mid 80s student may have trouble surviving the engineering cirriculum.

the cut off averages have nothing to do with the difficulty of the course. it just indicates that there are more people applying the program if the cut off average are high. less people if the cut off average is low

Cut off rates aren´t a good indicator of toughness.

If they were, McGill would be known as a tough school. It´s known as a prestigious and good school, but not a tough one.

there´s no such thing as a dumb university, dumb people on the other hand...
I go to ryerson and usually by 2nd year most of the ´dumb´ people drop out. If you´re smart, you should be able to acquire a high enough gpa to get a scholarship (ie. free money) which I would take over getting low 70´s and under at u of t any day.

LOL. Ryerson is a pretty hard university, professors are NO easier/softer than those of U of T. LOL. Well, there is stereotypes, like "there is only beavers in canada, and toronto is so north, that it´s always frozen to like -50*C". On the other hand, once you come to the place and actually SEE FOR YOURSELF, the stereotype is gone. U of T is an old-as-hell school with a reputation for making scholastic maniacs and just 99%+ students, but still average ppl go there too. Ryerson is just not as old as U of T or York, but in terms of quality of education - its THE SAME HUMAN, ENGLISH-SPEAKING PROFESSORS. So, NO, it´s not a dumb university. I do not work for/go to ryerson, in fact i am still trying to finish adult high-school (i´m 22 and i fucked up my early earls by doing some time for minor offences), but even if someone would be dissin Ryerson, i would choose it over any other university any day, cuz a) Newer University - The fresher its attitude is towards YOU, b) It´s SO accessible, unlike say york. Its right downtown, and LOCATION DOES MATTER. You´ll be going there for 48 months, so better save a few weeks of your life from wasting it on commuting/smelling everyone´s morning breath on the bus.))))))))

PEACE
