Subject: Bcomm...
I have a 77 average, yes I know not great but I did shit all in high school. I applied to Brock, Ryerson and a few others for business, am i better off going to one of these schools or staying back a year?

I wouldn´t say that the BCOMM is a waste of time. I know a lot of students (especially at UofT feel that way because the way their program is layed out is crap, none of it is really practical and the classes are too big. thats what I´ve heard at least) that feel that it is.

I´m currently enrolled in the BBA program at Schulich (the schulich equivalent of the BCOMM) and our program is a lot more practical. The first year is fairly basic so that you get a chance to dabble in each business discipline but then you´re able to more and more specialize your courses to fit your own career path. The classes are small and personal and the facilities and community are both great.

If you like to get involved there´s the annual business games ( ahuge thing in the business students community) as well as a lot of clubs. I for one am head of advertising on a marketing-consulting group which takes on real clients (small to medium sized businesses) and helps give us the practical experience we need to make us more employable.

I have a few friends that go to ryerson and they say the community is pretty good. Ryerson has a lot of interesting people (the journalists and people in the fashion program especially) I´d say between Brock and Rye, pick Rye.

YOu can barely specialize at York. Another crap program...next.

If you are in advertising, you should have done a bachelors in communication studies. You will be competing against those who do have such a degree, and they will crush you.

good luck

Ok chirp,so back off. We do not care about your reply bashing our university. We know we are the best. That is why we did not even take part in Macleans rankings for 2005. Check it out!
