Subject: Eng at Waterloo/Mcgill/Queens/Mac
Hello, i have been accepted at Waterloo and Mcgill for Software Eng, and general eng at Queens and Mac. I have no idea where i should attend in the fall.

I cant find much about software eng at Queens so i was wondering if they even have software engineering or if it is just an option within computer engineering?

Plus, i am not completely sure if i want to specialize in software eng, or take the general first year and decide after that.

Can anyone help me out?

oh me again...i would say the best thing is start broad so do a general eng program because if u start with software eng right away...u might not like it but if u start broad, you get a preview of all aspects of eng and you can pick the one you like.

UW is the best in Canada for ECE and CS. Not even UofT can compete with it. However, for other disciplines, it´s simply a good engineering school. UofT definitely surpasses it in the other fields, and perhaps schools like Queen´s and Mac rival it. However, UW´s reputation as an engineering school is undoubtedly unbeatable. You´re not screwed for life if you go elsewhere, so I´d choose Queen´s or Mac simply because of other factors (I´m personally debating between Queen´s and Mac right now).

(The following are all hearsay.)
I´ve been told that McGill, although one of the top 3 universities in Canada, does not have a strong engineering faculty. It may even be its worst faculty (worst does not mean bad compared to other engineering universities). It also doesn´t seem to have a strong co-op program, which is desperately needed by engineers.

Well, I assume that u got rejected by Lakehead. If that´s the case, then McGill is prolly the best choice. If you are planning to study abroad later, they have the second best reputation among Canadian unis.
