Subject: Prestige premium
Earning a university degree does not always translate to a high paying job. Just look at how many university grads out there struggling to pay off their student debt working low-pay jobs.

Granted, there is some prestige in having earned a university degree. So how much is the prestige premium worth? I´m not talking doctors, dentists, engineers, lawyers who can usually match or exceed a decent tradesman´s wage. I´m referring to someone with a BA or BSc in a low demand field. What is the prestige premium worth in percentage terms?

Alot of ppl with a BA or BSc will go on to do grad studies, maybe go onto professional schools. You can stick to your subject and get a Phd and postdocs and become a professor. Full professors make 6-figure salaries, and i´m not only talking about the big research universities.

most BA and BSc grads do not go on to graduate studies though.. not everyone wants to go to school for 8 or 9 years

wow some of you guys are slow.He mentioned girls because they dont have the physique to be a trades person. while men earn typically 20% less money by going to university instead of college, girls triple their earning power by going to university. thats why univeristy is like 3:1 girl/guy ratio

Yeah girls don´t want to get their hands dirty. It´s part vanity and part physique but it is in our culture. So brain work that requires university training is better?

I know a few female realtors who have done quite well for themselves with no university education. Real estate is a decent-paying trade that appeals to many women. A registered nurse may only need a college diploma and they have to lift some very heavy patients at times.

The physique arguementis a cop out. People can compensate and learn to adapt in different work environments.
