are you saying that your school is better solely because you have a higher entering average. your source being macleans. do you not know many universities are pulling out of this survey because the surveys are bias. these two schools are the top two in canada and are the two canadian universities that are most well known worldwide. mcgill is a good university, excellent i should say. but uoft is a better pick ,it is better overall and in terms of engineering and business we are better. and many other programs

here´s a good source for the business

I´m a UofT student and I agree McGill having an entering average like 3% higher than UofT this year means next to nothing. Just a few years ago, McGill had one of the lower entering grades (below UofT and many others even in QC), but they were still thought of as being one of the top two. My point is, entering averages change all the time so don´t pay too much attention to them unless the number is really low (e.g., <80).

Also, don´t say that Macleans is biased or wrong or whatever just because the information doesn´t please you. There is no reason to question the statistics they provide, the problem people have is with ranking Universities in general - a problem not unique to Macleans. Not to long ago someone posted a study done by a graduate student where he ranked Canadian Universities using the USNEWS methodology and his results were almost identical to those of Macleans except for a few changes in the bottom part of the ranking. UofT stayed number 1, McGill 2, etc. etc. So, don´t think that Macleans is biased or wrong just because your school didn´t place well.

i am from uoft and part of the reason they are pulling out is because it is bias we ranked number 1 so i don´t know why they are pulling out considering they are always ranked on top

U of T students are a bunch of losers whom bash York, Lakehead, and other schools because of lower admission standards, yet they can´t handle the truth that their school has lower admission standards than McGill.

U of T = sore losers and a bunch of idiots

U of T´s out of province students = 6.7% (Maclean´s Magazine)

Face it U of T fanboys, most Canadians outside Ontario aren´t choosing U of T as their first choice becuase it isn´t Canada´s best univerity.

McGill with 33.2% out of province first year students is by far Canada´s first choice university.

well, it´s about time someone at the top of uofT worked up the courage to act, isn´t it?

^ obviously not a uoft student. probably a lakheader or yorkie. anyways, i don´t even know what that quote is supposed to mean. macleans is biased because uoft is ranked number one 14 years in a row? how does that prove it´s biased? uoft pulled out because the new guy in charge doesn´t believe in ranking canadian universities, and i´m sure he´s confident enough in uoft´s reputation where he doesn´t need to depend on a macleans ranking like some others.
