Israel or Lebannon?

Subject: Israel or Lebannon?
If you had to pick a side to support, which would it be?

The country that turns a blind eye to resident terrorists and their supporters? Or the one that kills 100 unarmed civilians for every guy with a gun?

(in reply to: Israel or Lebannon?)
Both are bad. However, Israel is worse, since they kill much much more innocent people than the Lebanon does.

Don´t start talking politics on these forums. stick to canadian university discussion.

anyway both are wrong, but israel has to calm the fuck down. they´re bombing and shooting missiles and who loses the most? the innocent civilians... as usual.

I am an American and I find your opinions very interesting.

The average American, of whose daily life TV-watching takes such an unhealthy portion, distinguishes between fictional situations and reality only with difficulty, if at all. He responds to the televised actions, statements, and attitudes of TV actors much as he does to his own peers in real life. For all too many Americans the real world has been replaced by the false reality of the TV environment, and it is to this false reality that his urge to conform responds. Thus, when a TV scriptwriter expresses approval of some ideas and actions through the TV characters for whom he is writing, and disapproval of others, he exerts a powerful pressure on millions of viewers toward conformity with his own views.

And as it is with TV entertainment, so it is also with the news, whether televised or printed. The insidious thing about this form of thought control is that even when we realize that entertainment or news is biased, the media masters still are able to manipulate most of us. This is because they not only slant what they present, but they establish tacit boundaries and ground rules for the permissible spectrum of opinion.

As an example, consider the media treatment of Middle East news. Some editors or commentators are slavishly pro-Israel in their every utterance, while others seem nearly neutral. No one, however, dares suggest that the U.S. government is backing the wrong side in the Arab-Jewish conflict and that it served Jewish interests rather than American interests to send U.S. forces to cripple Iraq, Israel´s principal rival in the Middle East. Thus, a spectrum of permissible opinion, from pro-Israel to nearly neutral, is established.

On an American board there there would be at least some Israel backers.

Isreal is a US proxy to the middle east. If you fuck with Isreal, you fuck with the US. Simple as that.

Israel is meting out the same punishment it that the nazi´s meted out in world war : collective punishment for percieved wrong has learned nothing but instead bleats like a hysterical child about the reactions of a group that formed in response to prior injustices carried out by them. instead of this aggressive behaviour hey should have requested the help of the UN to help the newly democratic, but weak, lebannon government to disarm Hezbollah.
What israle is now doing: deliberate and massive destruction of civilian infrastructure (airports oil refineries, power stations) can be classified as war crimes.
no wonder the arab world hates America it´s see´s a biased and racist foreign policy with blatant hypocricy on the part of the Bush administration. this in turn increases terroism as it adds fuel to the fire that attracts disenchanted mulims to Jihad.
