What schools have good English departments? (Maclean´s rankings are irrelevant here). I´m considering the following for graduate work - Toronto (world-renowned), Western, Alberta, UBC, SFU. Is York good for English? (I heard it was more of a powerhouse in history/social sciences but pretty marginal in lit.) How about Queen´s? Is McGill any good anymore? Anywhere else should I consider?

Alberta is good, off the radar a bit but has good facilities and Edmonton is nice.
