Can somebody please help me out here? I just don´t understand how some people gwt to be so rich where I live. I mean most of them probably went to university but I don´t think graduating from say UBC, mcgill, etc can guarantee this kind of success. I really want to grow up and be succussful and live a comfortable life but I really don;t understand how some graduates are waiting tab;es while othes own a 800 grand house in vancouver. What do I have to do in order to be like the successful people?

btw if my grammar is off it´s not because I´m stupid, I´m actaully very un-sober.

If you mean material wealth, some of that could have come from inheritance. In many cases, the money was earned elsewhere and brought here to invest in Canada. If you live in Vancouver, where many recent Asian immigrants chose to settle, the expensive homes are a byproduct of a recent hot real estate market. Supply demand dictate price. The immigration system favored immigrants with money and wealth. But once they arrived, many immigrants found the job market in Canada, especially in Vancouver and Toronto really sucked. Stories of immigrant engineers and PhD´s driving taxis and working as security guards were not uncommon a few years ago.

Whether your McGill, UBC or Lakehead degree will get you the success you seek will largely depend on you. A degree is suppose to help you figure out how the world works and give you the critical thinking skills to survive and thrive. If you happen to get rich as a result of your university education, then good for you. I would not rely on it as a ticket for material riches. If you do, you may be disappointed.

Sometimes it´s luck. Sometimes it´s being at the right place at the right time. In Canada, if you are a university graduate, the statistics say you should have a greater chance of living a comfortable life with a middle class income. However, having a university degree does not guarantee you anything. Nothing in life is guaranteed, except death and taxes.
