Psychology is the study of human experience, thoughts, feelings and actions. York offers the MOST DIVERSE range of program options in Psychology in Canada.

In our programs, we introduce you to the various fields of psychology, beginning with courses that cover such issues as learning, perception, animal behaviour, child development, dreams, health, personality and abnormal and social psychology.

If you would like to focus on neuropsychology, brain behaviour or cognitive science, you should opt for a Bachelor of Science program, in which you would combine your psychology studies with courses like biology and chemistry. The Bachelor of Arts program emphasizes the social and cultural context for understanding human experience.

At York, you can study virtually all the areas of psychology since our department is the LARGEST - and one of the BEST - in Canada. With more than 90 professors and more than 50 courses offered each year, you´ll have an extraordinary range of choice available to you.

Study with professors who routinely win PRESTIGIOUS research grants. Our professors work in hospitals, community organizations and even the Toronto Zoo, as well as the labs at York.

So if you admit York´s psychology isn´t the best, why would you claim its better than UofT´s? Only McGill can claim that.

UofT has the best psychology department in Canada and one of the best in the world. McGill is second, and where did York come from? York may be the biggest, but their faculty is shit compared to UofT. Go look at the department webpage and you´ll see the difference in faculty quality.

^ he´s right. i´m in 4th year psych and uoft is known to be the best. mcgill and uoft have a similar long history of important research, but uoft has recently done a better job in recruiting more talent.

don´t ask me where york comes into the picture?

^ Agreed

I am not bashing UofT but what I really know is York Psychology is better than UofT, at least, at the undergrad level.

Why is this even a thread? I don´t know if this is just a troll thread (probably), but if this Yorkie is crazy enough to think this, please note that UofT KILLS York in psychology at the undergrad and graduate level. Provide one good argument why York is better.

- Compare faculty (UofT is all Ivy league scholars, York is all Canadian scholars)

- UofT has a shit load of money and a smaller program

- UofT has MORE and better classes. In fact, York tried to model their program after UofT´s.

- UofT has a long history of influential research and continues to be a major contributor. York is non-existent.

---

It´s like saying that University of Ottawa is better at engineering than Waterloo.

Yorkies are smoking too much crack with those Jane and Finch thugs roaming around campus.

These "York $program > UofT" threads are all just trolls.

Seriously, these Yorkies are deluding themselves. They don´t even compare well to other universities let alone the big boys.

^big boys? how well does UofT fair with the real "big boys" down south? ur shitty degree is useless outside of canada, be it UofT, Waterloo, Western whatever.

in the states employers don´t give a rats ass about your so called prestigious degree.

^ That´s quite a generalization and speaks more about your own confidence than anything else. And by big boys I meant the top Canadian universities, and I wasn´t including York.

In case you don´t know, UofT, McGill, and Waterloo all can hang with the "big boys" down South. While it´s true that schools like Yale, Michigan, and Illinois Urbana Champaign are stronger, these three Canadian schools would certainly be considered in the top 10 or 20 in the US. York, on the otherhand, is another story.
