Subject: Queens=Harvard of CAnada?
AS if! Queens is best at nothing while Harvard is best at almost everything. If Harvard is not best at everything than it is either second or third except maybe for engineering. Queens is best at nothing and does not even come close to being second or third in any field except perhaps business. So please, stop being wankers you rich white snobs from Queens.

For those of you who think UofT is better than Berkeley, you need a reality check. Berkeley is WAY MORE selective than UofT. You know how hard it is to get into Berkeley?
Name me one field where UofT is better than Berkeley!
Berkeley is richer, has better students and their faculty is renowned. I think UofT is overrated and so is Mcgill. The fact that ThEs ranked them so good is just because they are the only well known schools in CAnada so they sort of get a good ranking by default.

Canadian U and their American Equivalents (in reply to: Queens=Harvard of CAnada?)
The American Schools are much better than the Canadian ones, but I feel these are the closest matches if you had to pick one from both sides of the border.

UofT = Columbia or Chicago
Western = Northwestern
Queen´s = Yale or Cornell

McMaster = John Hopkins
Waterloo = MIT or Caltech
York = Michigan
Ottawa = Georgetown

McGill = Harvard
Concordia = NYU or Boston U

UBC = Stanford or Berkeley
SFU = U of Washington
Alberta & Calgary = U of Texas (Austin)

UofT is closest to Harvard, kids.

UofT is by far the richest Uni in Canada, it is by far the biggest research powerhouse, it has by far the biggest list of famous and powerful alumni, etc. etc.

Queen´s is similar to those small u.s. liberal arts colleges that are selective. Queen´s cannot be compared to any type of Ivy league school because they are too poor and they have no history of important research!

McGill is weird because they are still riding off an old reputation that has changed a long time ago. McGill is comparable with like McMaster, not UofT or UBC.

Ha ha ha ha! UofT students have inflated heads filled with air!

You crack me up!

1) UofT richest in Canada: Yes, from private funding (i.e. endowment collected from Toronto bankers). McGill wins more grant money according to research infosource per faculty member (i.e. well-deserved money).

2) UofT Biggest research powerhouse. Sorry not per faculty member (McGill number 1 in Canada according to research infosource). Forget about papers (which McGill beats again per faculty member according to research infosource) and your precious two paragraph press release hidden in the bowels of Thompson Corp´s website. Lets talk inventions. McGill has more patents than UofT. UofT may have shared the Nobel prize for insulin by taking credit from Banting´s work (a doctor from London ON who was never actually affiliated with UofT), but that is peanuts. Ever heard of Rutherford? You may have heard in physics class, he was professor at McGill and invented x-rays among other things. McGill also invented football, modern hockey, X-rays, plexiglas, artificial cells, and napalm.

3) Biggest list of famous and powerful alumni. According to who? You? Do you have any idea whos come out of McGill! For example, most of your professors at UofT.

YOU produce the list of famous alumni from both schools. Let us compare. I guarantee you that U of T has more famous alumni than McGill.

In fact, the two current Liberal Leadership candidates, Ignatieff and Rae, were former U. of T. grads.

As for McGill grads now profs at U. of T, that´s ridiculous.

U. of T.´s profs come from the best American universities in the world.

I went to UBC, and I can tell you, UBC has the highest percentage of profs with PhDs in the country. Most profs at UBC have foreign doctorates from the top US schools, and much less from either McGill or U. of T.

Assuming U. of T. is better than UBC, I expect that U. of T. profs are educated at the best foreign universities in the world.

Check out the academic calendar and take a look at U.of T. profs´ credentials. Tell me how many graduated from Mcgill.
