No matter what you get in rankings, nobody really cares. See, McGill will do well some years, UofT will do well in others. in 2005 and 2003, McGill took first place in Research Infosource. In 2004, McGill was second. That year and in 2003 UofT was out of the top three. In 2002 and 2001 though, UofT placed first. Therefore, the placings change. McGill and UofT will also fight for first in THES, SJTU, Macleans, etc. but in the end, who the hell in the world reads these things in depth like the rest of us? NOBODY. It´s about reputation and prestige. And unfortunately, UofT is simply an unknown next to McGill, the Harvard of the North. So you guys can celebrate all you want, but who else is there to care about this "victory"? LOL

You are such a fool.

You keep saying reputation means everything. What exactly does this mean???

Have you ever heard of a university resting on its laurels???

Reputation and prestige means diddly squat. Look at Oxford. It´s arguably the most famous university in the English speaking world...but it doesn´t compete with the best universities in the world...ie. Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, etc...because it lags in research.

McGill´s reputation and prestige was built years ago. So what if it is known as Harvard of the North.

The real Harvard University, by the way, has financial resources to do what counts: research. For your information, its endowment is over $ 30 Billion CAD.

Does McGill have anything close to that?

The McGill kid says its all about reputation and prestige; rankings and statistics don´t mean anything.

Reputation and prestige would only matter and be understood by the average joe.

Any average joe would know that driving a BMW has more prestige than driving a Hyundai.

Big deal.
