Help please! I have a final tomorrow, and the profs said it will not be easy. He said we had to know these two questions and we should do excellent. But these two questions are a tough one. One says name___________ what do we do, it´s just a blank? the other is 2x5 ......what is there a letter in a math exam?????!!!

(in reply to: Seneca math final...help :() i had those questions last year on the final. i remember the class avg being like 50%, tough exam. but to answer your question the blank was a typo and 2x5 just means 25 the x just separates the two numbers. i got 100% on it. peace man.

(in reply to: Seneca math final...help :() No no, that x there means "ex," unknown thing. So u can replace anything there and can give any answer.
My trick is to put zero there, then it is easy:
2 multiplied by zero multiplied by 5 = 10. (coz zero deos not affect; so easy ) :) hehe

(in reply to: Seneca math final...help :() I thought anything multiply by zero results in an imaginary number.

(in reply to: Seneca math final...help :() no, anything times by 0 will get you 0. trust me, they keep telling us this before the final. it´s kind of a hard concept to grasp.

(in reply to: Seneca math final...help :() ^um, no paul.
if you multiply something by 0, you don´t get 0. That is like saying 5000 x 0 = 10 x 0. That is absolutely not true AT ALL.
Unless you exchange my 10 bucks for your 5k.

(in reply to: Seneca math final...help :() Umm, not really, I am doing my PhD in math at UofT. And dey told us dat the bigger either of your numbas is, the bigger the result of your multiplication is.
By this logic, 5000 x 0 > 2 x 0
