Before applying for Master´s in Canadian Universities, you have to consider the following factors:

1. Your degree must be from recognised universities from Bangladesh. Preferably from BUET, CUET, KUET, RUET, DU, SUST, and NSU.

2. Your CGPA should be 3.5 or above and your class position should be among top 5% in your graduating class, this is particularly important for admission into top Canadian Universities.

3. Your TOEFL score must be 100 or above. Alternatively, your IELTS score must be 7.0 or above with atleast 6.0 in each band.

4. Some universities recommend GRE scores. So you may need to take GRE. Check the requirements through official websites. You must have to meet all the requirements in individual university.

5. You have to decide which master´s degree you are interested in. There are two types of master´s degree in Canada, like US - Masters of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.) and Masters of Engineering (M.Eng). MASc is research based and M.Eng is course-work based. If you are looking for assistantship or funding, you have to go for MASc. There is no financial aid for M.Eng students. But remember getting admission into MASc is highly competitive and seats are extremely limited.

6. You must have to submit a statement of intent or statement of purpose along with application. The statement should clearly indicate your research interest, your previous education and research experience, your future goals. You also have to submit other documents. Again check the university websites.

7. For admission into MASc, you must demonstrate that you have the ability to carry on the research works. You should have paper publication(s) in International Journal or International Conference. This is important that the paper(s) is related to your research interest and has been refereed fully.

8. For admission into MASc, you must have to successfully contact a professor who is currently working in the field of your research interest and has agreed to supervise you. If professor asks you to apply formally or interested to take you in his/her research group, you can consider applying formally.

You may consider University of Calgary, if you want to study in Calgary. You may find this ranking (for Engineering) quite helpful.

1. University of Toronto
2. University of Waterloo
3. McGill University
4. University of British Columbia
5. University of Alberta
6. University of Ottawa - Carleton University
7. Queen?s University
8. Universit? de Montreal
University of Western Ontario
10. McMaster University

20. University of Victoria

By the way, don´t make your decision based on the ranking alone. Consider the above factors carefully. Then apply according to your ability, scores, and preference.

All the best.
